Fine-Grained Password Policies and Windows XP informational text RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We have started to implement the Windows 2008 Fine-Grained Password Policies. No problem in doing that, but since we havent upgraded our clients to Windows 7 yet our users gets the wrong information when trying to change their passwords and not meeting the complexity demands. It seams that its only the password settings done in the Default Domain Policy that shows to the users. We would like to change that text so that it looks like the one in Windows 7, not specifying exactly how many characters the password needs to be etc. But just to a text saying that the password didnt meet the complexity demanded. Preferably in Swedish if that is possible.

Trying to change the msgina.dll and the xpsp5res.dll isnt very easy since Windows file protection restores the files. Is there any fix from Microsoft regarding this issue or is there any other way to do this?

Without us being able to change that text I dont see that we can implement the Fine-Grained Password Policy.
