Can not start virtualized applications and console RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good time to everyone!

We have App-V Infrastructure consisting of two App-V Management Servers. We install App-V 4.6 clients on Windows XP, 7, Server 2003, Server 2008 R2. Periodically users on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 can not start neither virtualized applications nor App-V Client Console. The problem is resolved only by rebooting or client reinstalling. The errors are the following:

    1. When a user try to run virtualized application:

The Application Virtualization Client was unable to initialize the user's profile for a system session (rc 10601903-00007003).

    2. When a user try to run App-V Client Console:

The client was unable to connect to an Application Virtualization Server (rc 16D1100A-0000E005)

The Application Virtualization Client unable to connect to 'localhost'.

An unexpected error occurred. Report the following error code to your System Administrator.

    Error code: 4615186-10601903-00007003

I can not find any helpfull solutions. I'm waiting for your help!

  • Where is the App-V Client User Data Directory located?

If you can't get into the client console, view the location stored in the following value:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\SoftGrid\4.5\Client\Configuration; or
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SoftGrid\4.5\Client\Configuration

Are you redirecting AppData from the user's profile?

  • Hello,

Try removing the antivirus and see if that improves the stability

  • Thanks for the answer!

User Data Catalog is by default (%APPDATA%) as in registry as in App-V Client Properties. It is not redirected and is in C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming

  • Are there non-default permissions on that location? Have you tested with the App-V 4.6 SP1 with Hotfix 3 client?

The error code doesn't match, but this KB article is worth a look: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2579122

  • I applied the hotfix 3. The situation is as above.

  • Hello,

Usually when this happens its due to issues of using the user data directory - most commonly because its redirected to a network share that is unavailable. However, its certainly not limited to that....

When the issue occurs - can the user access their user data directory?

  • Thanks for the answer!

User Data Directory is not redirected. It is local.

User can access user data directory in any time.
