Need help migrating email from entourage 2008 to outlook 2016. Do not have access to outlook 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Please provide simple, clear instructions for how to migrate email files from entourage 2008 to outlook 2016.  I do not have access to Outlook 2011 as has been suggested in some forums.  Please assume very limited knowledge of technical terms (e.g. I do not know what "use an Exchange or IMAP account to transfer the data" means.  As a casual user, I have no idea what the following means or how to execute it.

"By default, Exchange and IMAP account will sync everything back to the server, so after configuring an Exchange or IMAP account, just copy your data to this account (it's just a matter of drag and drop thing), and waiting for the data sync'ing finished.

Then, configure this Exchange or IMAP account in Outlook 2016, all your data will be cached in Outlook2016 local data file."

A cookbook set of instructions would be appreciated (ones that a 5 year old or grandmother could follow).

Hi, to use an IMAP account to sync email between Entourage 2008 and Outlook 2016, please follow these steps:

    1. Set up an email account that supports IMAP protocol (you can use Outlook.com account or an Gmail account) as IMAP in your Entourage 2008. If you are not using other email account, contact your ISP and confirm whether IMAP is supported and ask the ISP to provide the detailed IMAP server settings. See the following article for detailed steps of setting us an IMAP account in Entourage 2008.

    2. When you have set up an IMAP account in Entourage 2008, create a new subfolder (or multiple new folders if needed) in the IMAP account.

    3. Now select the emails you want to migrate and then drag & drop them to the new folder(s) you created under the IMAP account. Drag & drop all emails in each folder you want to migrate.

    4. Open Outlook 2016, set up the IMAP account in Outlook 2016. For your reference:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2758902/how-to-set-up-an-internet-email-account-in-outlook-2013-or-2016

Now you should see all the emails you drag&drop to the IMAP folder in Outlook 2016.

    5. Set up your original email account in Outlook 2016, then, drag & drop all emails from the IMAP account to this original email account within Outlook 2016.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

I did Google on this issue, and I found that SysTools Entourage to Outlook Converter is best Software to convert  MAC Entourage database to Outlook PST. As I examined this tool migrate Entourage data to Outlook for Windows OS and Mac both. So you can convert Entourage to Outlook 2016 on MAC or Windows both.

If I talk about in technical term, I have used demo versions of this software. It’s very user friendly and so quick. You can easily install and configure this software in your system. This software will surely migrate Entourage 2008 to Ms Outlook 2016 MAC and Windows both and you will easily access Entourage data in any Outlook 2016 (MAC/Windows), 2013, 2010 (Win), 2011 (MAC), and older versions.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Kelvin Howard
