Noob question 1: removing "Shortcut" when creating one RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In XP, I used Tweakui to get rid of the "shortcut to" on the shortcut's name when creating one. How do I do the equivalent in W7? When creating a shortcut to xxx, I wand it named "xxx", not "xxx - Shortcut".

  • Use the same registry hack that works for Vista . Google for it.

  • MacAndrew,

This is default Windows behavior, and when using the "Create shortcut" option from the right-click context menu, there is no way of changing it. You can, as you know, simply rename the shortcut immediately after.

It's possible that this can be altered by a registry hack, but you'll probably have to wait for the retail version of Windows 7 for those to become well-publicized.

  • Thanks Kristaps,

I wasn't sure if the W7 registry hacks would work the same as Vista. I'll give it a try.
