Lync 2010 doesn't normalize the phone number from AD RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

We have a weird issue with our Lync 2010 phone number normalization. We recently reformatted our AD user phone numbers from +xxxxxxxxxxx (+11233334444) to 0x xxxx xxxx (02 3333 4444), and Lync server can not normalize the new phone number format.

I can see the errors in 'LyncShare\1-WebServices-1\ABFiles\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\Invalid_AD_Phone_Numbers.txt' showing: Unmatched number: User: 'SID'  AD Attribute: 'telephoneNumber'  Number: '0x xxxx xxxx'

I have added the following in the 'LyncShare\1-WebServices-1\ABFiles\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt':

#For normal phone numbers with 10 digits
    ^\D*(\d{2})\D*(\d{4})\D*(\d{4})$
    $1$2$3

It correctly normalize the '0x xxxx xxxx' numbers to be 0xxxxxxxxx when tested in Lync Server Control Panel, but doesn't work when running 'Update-CsAddressBook' (or at its scheduled time).

Can someone please shed some light on this issue? Thank you so much.

  • Sorry guys,

Cancel that, I just realised the actual Company_Phone_Number_Normalization_Rules.txt file is located at LyncShare\1-WebServices-1\ABFiles\ folder.

Once adjusted, the phone number normalization works as expected.
