    Old Adobe Illustrator worked on XP service pak 2 but new computer is Windows 7. Illustrator is on a CD and I don't know how to use app compatibility...

    Your best bet is to contact Adobe for updates patches, etc.  You cannot assume what worked in XP will work in win 7
