Hyper-V Server remote managing with non-local-admin user (Via PS?) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I'm new to the whole server shebang and just set up a new Hyper-V Server 2012 R2.

Now I've met a problem I can't find the answer to:

The newly created server is in a domain of itself. We want to be able to manage vm's on that server from our own company pc's.

When I open up the Hyper-V-Manager on my company pc and connect to the server it just assumes that the user i'm currently logged in with has the right to do that as he doesn't ask me for any credentials. But my current user will never have the rights because its outside the domain.

I can remotely connect to the server just fine and have full jurisdiction over the server.

So, can i somehow use the powershell or something else to:

    - log into the server with local admin credentials

    - create and manage vm's

As I said I'm very new to this so i might make stupid mistakes. If the Hyper-V-Manager would have a simple login mask when connecting to a server, my problems would be gone.

    Thanks in advance,

    David
