Lync cumulative update installation procedure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I  have drafted the steps for installing the cumulative updates in Lync Enterprise edition setup 2010.

My question is  Do we want to update the  SQL database after the first  FE server update or  as last step ?

also Install-Cs-database  command should be run from FE server or SQL server ?

Next is there is any pre-request ( earlier updates should be installed ) for installing  cumulative updates or i can download the latest cumulative updates July 213

    Steps:

    1. download the cumulative update installer.exe

    2. Stop the  Lync services  in  FE servers using  Lync Management shell

                    Stop-CSservices -Graceful

    3.  Stop the  IIS services in  FE servers using  command prompt

                    net stop w3svc

    4.  Install the cumulative updates using the installer.

    5.  restart the FE server.

    6.  Repeat the steps in  FE , AV, Monitoring,Edge  and  Mediation servers.

    7. Next need to update the  SQL  Database.

Install-CsDatabase -Update -ConfiguredDatabases -SqlServerFqdn <EEBE.Fqdn> -UseDefaultSqlPaths

  • Yes you have to update all servers including edge and SQL after FE. Install-Cs-database good enough for SQL.

You can dounlad the latest update form http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809243/en-us, and just run LyncServerUpdateInstaller.exe file.

  • Hi,

After updating, please run LyncServerUpdateInstaller.exe again and make sure all components have green marked.
