I created a SSRS folder for a vendor to utilize their custom reports. The vendor can only see the contents of that folder by navigating directly to the path of the folder.Vendor can deploy reports and create datasets, but receives a “The permissions granted to this user “domain\username” are insufficient for performing this operation” when selecting manage after right clicking on either a report or dataset they
created. The following are the steps taken in Report Manager to accommodate this vendor’s needs.
Within the new SSRS folder added a New Role Assignment assigned to the vendors “domain\username”
and assigned the Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher and Report Builder Roles.User can delete reports, create subscriptions and so on, but cannot get to the properties or dataset information without receiving that error.
In Reporting Services, role assignments are typically inherited from a parent node, while we can break permission inheritance by creating a new role assignment for a particular item. A user who is a member of the Content Manager role for one report may be a
member of the Browser role for another report. Based on the theory, you can try to check whether the permission for corresponding dataset or has been changed.
