Excel not working after recent update RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently installed the latest Office update for Office 365 on my laptop. I can open Excel files and make changes, but as soon as I click on File, it hangs and never recovers. So I close the program and it recovers somewhat of what has been lost. But the same thing happens every time I reopen Excel. I can't click File to Save as. Any suggestions? Please!

  • Hi Paules,

Based on your description, did you get this issue with all Excel files?

I suggest you try to create a new Workbook and check if it works fine.

Then please try to work with Excel file in safe mode: Press Win + R, type " excel /safe" in the blank box, press Enter. If it works fine in safe mode, please check the add-ins in your excel and disable them.

If this issue still exists, please repair your Office in your computer. About how to repair Office, please refer to this article:
