Delete copy of old shortcut or customize error message when launching old app-v application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Users can easily send an app-v application's shortcut on their desktop. But when a new version of this application is published, for example myapp 10.0 replaces myapp 9.0, this shorcut is up to date.

So users don't understand the message which appears when launching the older app... so they call IT to tell us their problem, and we just have to tell them to find new app in start menu / Programs / Apps / myapp 10.0 and create a new shortcut...

Is there a solution to this ?

    thank you for your answers

  • Hello,

Error messages are written in a XML-file in the client-installation-folder. I can't remember its name, but one of the options you have is to edit this one...

  • Hello,

You can restrict them from creating shortcuts on the desktop (such as change the NTFS-permissions or perhaps there is a group policy for this?)
