Migrating Reports From 2008 to 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have some reports sitting on a SQL Server 2008 Standard server that I am trying to move to a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Server, by saving the .rdl file locally with Report Builder 2.0, then uploading it using RB 3.0.  For the moment, I would like to move the reports, but not the queried database.

The reports use a shared data source in Reporting Services.  I created a new shared data source on the 2008 R2 server that mimics the one on the 2008 Server (they both point to the 2008 DB).  Both use credentials stored on the server.

I found I had to open the rdl file and add an element "<rd:SecurityType>None</rd:SecurityType>" to the <DataSources> element, I also tried tinkering with the <rd:DataSourceID> element.

Some reports work well.  For one, however, while it seems to successfully run the small queries I used to populate parameter options, it times out trying to run the main query.

Looking at the DB Activity Monitor, I don't see the report connecting...

    Please Help!
