Software deployment workflow failure RRS feed

  • Has anyone ran into this error in the Operations Manager log on the SCSM Management Server when a user requests software through the SCSM portal?   It appears that there is some sort of communication issue between the SCSM Management Server and the SCCM server at first glimpse.

    A Windows Workflow Foundation workflow failed during execution.

    I used the "How to Configure Self-Service Software Provisioning" guide on http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff460960.aspx to tie in the SCSM software provisioning to our existing SCCM deployment.

  • Figured it out after doing a netmon trace on the SCSM server.  Apparently there was an invalid WINS entry for the SCCM server floating around.  Cleaned up the stale record and now the Software deployment through SCSM works as expected.

    Sounds for me like something with a network issue:

    • Blocking firewall
    • Name resolution
    • "No proper network connection"

    Are there any errors in the "Operations Manager" Event Log on the SCSM 2010 server?

  • We do not have the Windows Firewall up on either server and they are connected to the same LAN.  Both servers can resolve Netbios and FQDN for each other.

    Yes, only one event ID related to this.  Event ID 33880 The contents match what was posted above.
