Why no publisher property shown when deploying MSI through group policy

    Question

  • Hi guys,

I'm trying to use group policy to deploy MSI (software installation) through PCs in domain.

I found all msi file I added has empty publisher property in properties window.

However, other properties like Version, Language, Platform, URL, etc are fine.

Please help to share some idea on this problem.

Is this a bug in Group Policy or it's the problem in msi installer?

Has anyone can provide me a msi installer that has publisher property?

    Thanks

    Best regards,

    Jack

MSI files are databases. And if the creator of the MSI file does not
enter a value for the publisher, GPO cannot extract and display it...

The table in the MSI database is "Property", the field is "Manufacturer" :)

  • Hi Jack

    Thanks for your post.

I have tested for this. And I encounter the same situation with you.

I agree with Martin, this may be caused by the creator of MSI file did not write value for the publisher attribute.

    Best Regards,

    Jay
