I am going through lots and lots of forums and blogs but i didnt find a resolution yet. The only two solution i find in blogs are updating password in services.msc ( I tried but it didnt resolve) and the other solution was stsadm -o provisionservice -action stop -servicetype spwebservice -servicename "" but even this didnt solve the issue but actually created more issues by deleting the IIS virtual directories as the stsadm -o provisionservice -action stop -servicetype spwebservice -servicename "" could not start the services.

So i request you all to please let me know if you'll have resolved this issue. Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

Thanks to share your post in this forum.

For the issue that you have encountered, try this: stsadm -o provision service -action stop -service type spwebservice-servicename ""stsadm -o provision service -action start -service type spwebservice-servicename ""
it will only stop and start the web provision service.

And if this doesn’t work, you may retry every step of the install, check if that works.

  • Hello llanezll

    Looking at the log

SPIisWebSiteWssSequence] [ERROR] [12/28/2010 7:28:02 AM]: Action 3.0.2.0 of Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPIisWebSiteWssSequence failed.

Seems there has to be a user in the sharepoint central admin , which no longer exists in the Active directory .

Open Central admin and go to Update farm administrator group , and ensure you dont have any user which no longer exits in the active directory.

when you would try to remove these users, you would see the same error. so try recreate those users in AD and delete it from farm administrators group and also sitecollection administrators group ,

Go to service accounts in central administration and ensure all the application pools are running with valid AD account .

then run psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -wait

    This should work :-)

    Cheers
