"Net File" and Network Share manager no longer show the number of locks. RRS feed

  • Question

  • G'day All,

The "Net File" command has a "#locks" column which will show files that have a lock against them.

In Windows 2003 and below, this column will show correctly if a file has any open locks.

However Windows 2008 and above, this column only shows "0" for all files, regardless of whether it has any locks.

The Server Role Manager, System Internals PSFile and VBscript: GetObject(WINNT://server/LanManserver) etc all show the same thing and that is locks=0

Can anyone advise how on Windows 2008/2012 we can list files that have locks and who has locked them?

I know I can use Process Explorer to find the file, but that will not tell me if it i locked, only that it is open, plus I would prefer to do this via the cmd line.

    Rgds Ben
