SCEP Exclude During Client Install RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I understand correctly, System Center Endpoint Protection is part of SCCM 2012. However the licensing is separate.

We dont wish to use this software at all. The SCCM Client Install package is around ~158 MB. I would like to exclude this to be delivered when the install happens under c:\windows\ccmsetup.

If this can be attained - a foot print of 18 MB by SCEP client will also not be there.

  • The ConfigMgr installation package (<CM12-installation-directory>\Client) will be downloaded to the client when using an OSD task sequence. That's by design and should not be changed. You could create a custom ConfigMgr package where you removed the scepinstall.exe (haven't tried that yet), but are 18MB out of ~160MB really relevant?

  • Thanks for your reply, Torsten.

A lot of questions dont make sense - but when you have your Desktop Team documenting file size and foot print and ask why - then they are relevant.

I always use MS dialogue for most of it "This is by DESIGN" however does not work every time.
