RD Gateway Change external Ports RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.
We are using RD Gateway 2019 to allow access to a group of office computers.
I was suggested to change the default external port to a different one, 4545 for example.
I need that want the traffic to internal computers to use the default port of 3389.
    Is this a viable option?
If so, how do I configure it on the server-side and on the external user side?

    Thanks
    Itamar

  • Hi,

yes, it's a viable option and changeable through the RD Gateway Manager GUI. Do keep in mind that there are *two* external ports on RDG: for TCP and UDP - if you do use UDP for your RDS, that is.

On the client side, you need to add :<PORT> to your Gateway configuration ("Connect through RD Gateway" part of MSTSC). In your RDS farm, you also need to update the RDG definition by adding the custom port. This way, the connections presented by RDWeb will have the correct configuration set automagically.
