Portable Bitlocker possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm not looking for bitlocker to go. Sometimes at my company we have an issue with a bluescreen or whatever. In order to repair the system we need to shut off bitlocker on the drive. Because of the bluescreens we can not start the systems in safemode even with the the bitlocker key. Because some of the systems bluescreen again. With issues such as a blue screen the only way for us to move forward with a repair is to remove the drive, slave it to another system and shut off bitlocker. I'm trying to avoid the removal of the drive. I'm wondering if it's possible to take the bitlocker program itself and port it to a usb drive? I use a bootable usb drive for other trouble shooting and repair such as virus removal, whole drive back ups etc on non encrypted drives. I would like to take the bitlocker program, package the entire thing to a ISO and put it on my usb so I can then run it from the drive, turn off bitlocker and work the repair, and then turn bitlocker back on once the system boots as it should. These issues are not a constant problem in the office, but they do happen about once ever 3 to 4 months and in the end the only fix is dumping the machine, reloading and losing all the clients data. So is it possible to get a seperate bitlocker .exe or .msi to to complete this?
