Telephone number vs. UM extension RRS feed

  • Question

  • In active directory the business telephone number is different then the UM extension.  I want callers who speak a name in auto attendant to be transfered to the business telephone and not the UM extension in some cases, (not all).  Is there a way to make that happen.

  • Hi,

If you deploy Lync server and integrate with exchange UM, it will ring the Lync client first when you speak a name in UM auto attendant.

  • Hi Clark,

Exchange designed to ring the extension as IVR system , if you want telephony functions , you may go for Lync server and assign users numbers as full E.146 number with last digits are the um extension , and in that case you can use lync to ring business phone with simultaneous Ring configured , even you can use Lync Response Group .

    Regards,

  • If your users are in Lync, their UM account have to be enabled for SIP URI. The extension in UM is there only so the users can dial subscriber access and enter a mailbox number and PIN. Transfers from an Auto Attendant will be made to the users' SIP URI, not telephone number.
