Internet Explorer Unhandled Exception kernel32.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • Over the last few days and for no apparent reason I get, within a few minutes of starting the Internet (IE 9), a box opening with the above message involving kernel32.dll - UNICODE; 32bit; v.1.700;Win:6.6.6002.2 (Service Pack 2); IE:9.0.8112.16421:

I have made no recent changes or added any programmes to the system other that the usual updates and the only recent one for IE 9 has been KB2817183 on 10 April 2013. The problem has now appeared on both my laptops which are running Vista SP2 and have had this recent update.

Has anybody any thoughts or know if there was a glitch in KB2817183. I don't really want to reset IE9 if possible as (a) will lose data and important history in toolbars etc on the main laptop and (b) this may not be the answer, only a short term solution if the latest update is the issue?

    Thank you
