Word 2007 "can't execute code in design mode" RRS feed

    I have a template that is protected other than using form fields. The ability to access spellcheck is embedded into a macro that is run when a box is checked, as you can't use the spell check button with the document protected.

    When the box is checked to run the macro, I receive the error "Can't execute code in design mode." The design mode button is greyed out, and I can't do anything with it.

    This only happens on one computer, if I use a different computer, the macro runs just fine, so there must be a setting on this one particular computer that is causing this issue. Anyone have a solution?

    Hi,

    Please try to rename the normal template and temporarily remove any add-ins from the Word Startup folder.
