DNS Rule to Access AWS Cloudfront WebSite RRS feed

  • Question

  • We moved our web site (server inside our LAN) to the AWS CloudFront.  Domain name is mywebsite.com. Removed entry point to internal server (192.168.0.x). Made a new ALIAS (CName) that pointed FQDN www.mywebsite.com to Cloudfront myawswebsite.cloudfront.net. Works as expected. Can reach URL: www.mywebsite.com with all browers.

I have been trying to a record that would would allow using mywebsite.com as an alternate URL. When I try an Alias(CName) mywebsite.com. an error occurs stating "the DNS name contains records that are incompatible with the CNAME record.  How can one get around this error?

  • Hi,

You will not be able to create CName record if the A record exists with same name.
