Changing Project Server (Project) Custom Fields RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to know how to manipulate the Project Custom Fields that are associated with a MS Project that is stored in Project Server. These are not the Project Server Enterprise fields for a task, but the ones that are visible (and settable) from within Project Server for the entire project. Example would be "Schedule POC" on the 'Edit Schedule Properties' screen in PWA.

    Thank you.

  • Within Project the custom Project fields are visible in Project information.

In project 2007 select Project on the menubar then Project Information.

In Project 2010 choose the Project Tab and then Project Information.

For Enterprise project fields you can set values, but if you want to change any formulas you need to do that through project server (server settings / enterprise custom fields / then define the formula for the field)

  • The question was intended on how to get the data from within Project client, not how to manipulate the vaues on the server.

It seems that you can retrieve them by using the Task.GetField(FieldNameToFieldConstant("FieldName1")) method and that is accessable for both Task and Project level Fields.
