Vista MUI (Multilingual User Interface) - total conversion? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a rather new computer with Japanese XP Home running on in. My
    computer is Vista compliant.

But, I want to run Vista in English. I have read that Windows Vista™
Ultimate can switch between languages. Would it work for me to
purchase the Japanese Vista Ultimate upgrade for my computer and then
    switch it to English?

    I read about here: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/
    library/85e289ca-9fd8-4963-b06a-5ecc457006c71033.mspx?mfr=true

I want to run Vista just as if I was running the English version. ALL
error messages in English...from general system prompts, to the error
messages you get when errors occur with JET 4.0, for example.  Will the command prompt be in English as well?

Can I save some money by purchasing the Japanese upgrade, or must I get the stand alone English version of Vista Ultimate?

    Thanks for any input!

Answers

  • MUI does it all. Get Japanese, you can switch to English, get English, switch to Japanese, as you like, MUI is now available through Window Update, just select your favorite pack to download.

    Good luck
