Custom Toolbars on Taskbar Intermittently disappearing on Logon RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use 4 custom toolbars on the taskbar for all of our users, we are using Citrix XenDesktop VDI and citrix UPM to deliver our VM's and profiles to users. Every day 3 or 4 users out of 50 loose their custom toolbars and they need re adding, it is not consistent and is different users each day.

The below hotfix looks similar but is for Win 7 and not 8.1

Can anybody help with this please.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

By default, the user account's taskbar toolbars are saved in the registry location below:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop

This entry may contain corrupton, then some cleanup\maintance tools will clean these data which cause the lost of the toolbars.  Since the data for toolbars are stored as binary, as a workground, I suggest you manually export the registry entry from a reference PC, then deploy it to all PCs using Group Policy Preference. check the issue again.
