Error when doing P2V conversion from server 2012 r2 to Hyper-v 2012 host using Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter 3.0. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to convert a physical windows server 2012 R2 with AD/DNS installed to a virtual machine on Hyper-V 2012 on top of Nutanix box.

I'm able to cross the convert disks, fix up disks and copy disks stage in the conversion process using Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter 3.0. However, I'm receiving an error when the conversion process comes to provision Hyper-V guest stating 'RPC Server Unavailable'.

I've disabled firewall on the source machine and the target Hyper-v host as well. I've enabled all the necessary remote access, wmi, etc services on the source and target machines but still with no success on the conversion.

I've tried this process for multiple times with same error.

Any help would be highly appreciated since we've spent lot of time on this trying to figure out what's going wrong.
