Internet Explorer Edge : Hide Url Bar in Pop-Up Window RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

How can i hide the adress bar in a popp-up IE-Edge ? We start each Pop-Up with window.open(page, name, options) where our options "menubar=no,toolbar=no,location=no". However the url appears in the new pop-up under the title.

In IE-8 there was no adress url displayed in pop-up window.

    Thanks and kind regards,

  • Hi,

Post questions about html, css and scripting for website development to

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/home?forum=iewebdevelopment

If possible include with your questions a link to your website or a jsfiddle mashup that shows your coding. You can also submit code and makup snippets and screen shots with your questions.

    This forum is for

Questions regarding Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 and Internet Explorer 11 for the IT Pro Audience. Topics covered are: Installation, Deployment, Configuration, Security, Group Policy, Management questions.

    That said,

Scripted window outcomes (popups) in IE depend upon...

The browsers security zone and built-in popup blocker settings.

Any third-party popup blocker addon that you have installed (google toolbar).

For testing purposes you should set IE settings to their defaults (click "Reset all zones to default button on the Security tab of Internet Options), noting from the File>Properties menu which IE security zone your parent and child domains map to. Also test in noAddons mode and with the builtin popup blocker turned off (restart browser when changing settings in the testing cycle).

Edge will always open scripted windows with an address bar, use the fullscreen=yes argument to hide the Favorites bar and charm buttons.

    Regards.
