Task Does not appear on Task List on Timesheet RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using Project Server 2010 with Timesheets. I have a resource assigned to several tasks in a Project. The resource cannot add any of the tasks from that project to his timesheet. When he goes to insert the task on his timesheet he can see the Project on the list in the pop up box, but no tasks. I have checked and double checked the the assignment in the project plan, the assignment ownership, the dates of the tasks, etc. The tasks were initially manually scheduled so I made sure the date ranges were in line with the timesheet dates. I also changed the tasks to auto scheduled to see if they would show up on the list. Nothing is working. I have read similar postings on this topic - i.e. "Planned work is not appearing...", "Resource assignments not showing up..." , etc., and all of the suggested settings and checks suggested are in place. A

Does anyone have any idea why the tasks are not showing up on the task list? I don't know what else to check.

    Thanks.

I would start by asking the user to do the following:

    1.  Navigate to the Manage Timesheets page in PWA.
    2.  Select the Period for the timesheet in question to select that timesheet (do not click the My Timesheet link for that timesheet).
    3.  Click the Delete button in the Timesheets ribbon.
    4.  Click the OK button in the confirmation dialog to delete the timesheet.
    5.  Click the Click to Create link for the troublesome timesheet.

After completing those steps, the user should be able to see the tasks in question.  Please let us know if this solves the problem.  If not, we will continue to try and help you.

  • Hi Dale,

Thanks for the response. Is deleting the timesheet and starting over the only way to resolve this issue? I read that in some older posts from 2011 & 2012  and I was hoping that there was another way to resolve it by now. Having to delete and re-create seems like a bug to me. Thanks.

PS - I forgot to mention that we got around the issue by having the user use the "add yourself to a task" feature instead of inserting a task. This required approval from the owner of the project the tasks were liste on, but it allowed the tasks to be listed on the timesheet. I'm not convinced that either of those approaches is a real resolution, but rather "work arounds".   Thanks again.

Since nothing else the user has tried has worked so far, my only plan of action would be to delete and recreate the timesheet in question.  Hope this helps.
