Rename Built In Local Admin and Change Password RRS feed

    Hello,

    I'm trying to assemble the parts and pieces to identify the built in local admin account (SID = *-500 kind of thing), rename it to a standard new name, and set the password.

    Feels like a combination of 

    Get-LocalUser or

    Rename-LocalUser -SID "*-500" -NewName "XADMIN"

    and then

    Set-LocalUser 

    I know this is fairly generic, but it's probably something simple.

    so what error are you getting? I'm not sure you can rename the default admin user.

    Using the wildcard on the SID is not working. That's really my issue is that I need to pull the SID of the default local admin, rename it, and set the password. Thanks for the reply. Sorry if this is a horribly dumb question.
