MDT auto login and Novell RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using MDT to deploy our Windows 7 machines for about 1 year now. We are new to both MDT and Windows 7 deployment but over the past year we have worked out most of the bugs we ran into initially. One thing we have noticed that is driving us crazy is after MDT applies the image, the computer goes through installing devices, does on last reboot, then it should sign on automatically and continue the process (we have programs that get installed after the fact in some cases), instead of signing in we get a message stating that our user name or password is incorrect.

After trying to rebuild the images that didn't work properly, making sure we didn't have any typo's and double checking everything we just realized yesterday that the only images that are giving us trouble are the ones with Novell. All of our images that don't have the Novell client auto login and complete the last of their task sequences fine. The ones with the Novell client all give us the incorrect username/password message.

  • Install the novell client as the last step in the task sequence.

  • Thanks for the suggesting, that actually was our plan but we have some resistance when it comes to installing applications after the fact from some tech/management.

If anyone else does need to get around this you can do it by setting these reg keys. The problem with doing it this way is we then have to add a task sequence for resetting these keys after the fact but otherwise it works.
