SSRS Error log RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a SQL server reporting server installed both database engine and SSRS service 2017 on it.

The database only hosts the reporting database.

I found a lot of repeating errors in the file:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\LogFiles:

2019-12-10 15:00:04.0060|WARN|5|Exception deleting expired log fileSystem.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services\SSRS\LogFiles\ReportingServicesWMI_2019_10_02_14_21_11.log' because it is being used by another process.
    at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
    at System.IO.File.InternalDelete(String path, Boolean checkHost)
    at Microsoft.BIServer.HostingEnvironment.Logger.DeleteExpiredFiles(String traceFolder, Int32 keepUntilDays)

    And in the RSManagement_2019_12_10_00_00_03.log

    2019-12-10 15:00:03.9903|ERROR|4|One or more errors occurred.| RequestID = s_c309f71b-2269-45a3-abc4-53de5286e812

What does this mean, how can I trouble shooting it?

    Thanks

  • Hi msloy,

Did this error cause any other symptoms?

Only from the error message, it looks like SSRS were trying to delete old logs while it was using.

You could delete the old logs manually see if this still remains.

This thread is also helpful: Deleting log files?

  • We don't know if this caused error.

But we have an application webpage that calls the report server reports. The report is heavily used and today it is errored out.

There’s 2 types of errors in the application logs:

    1)

12/10/2019 17:02:10: msmith - CreateReports Error: Exception calling "Render" with "7" argument(s): "The report execution aypuon45bzxiunvkby5a0lu2 has expired or cannot be found. (rsExecutionNotFound)"

    2)

12/10/2019 16:26:23: msmith- CreateReports Error: Exception calling "Render" with "7" argument(s): "An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)"

I checked the database there is error in the database engine log, the disk space is big enough, tempdb is OK too.  What else should I check?

    Thanks

  • Hi Msloy,

I noticed, that for this particular server, you have opened 3 tickets for it. Are these all for one issue and you were trying to trouble shoot it ? If so we could merge three case together to stay focus and well informed.

Or did your each case have one unique issue for its topic?

  • They are related, but I don't want to mix them together so that it complicates the question and that is why I split and tackle each one with one post.

    Thanks

    Thanks

  • Ok.

The file you mentioned is used to log all the detail activities of Report Server and errors.

I didnot find any errors in your log file, which makes this issue a bit confusing.

If your environment is complicated and issues remains, we would suggest you to open ticket with MS support which would give a full check and diagnose to your issue.

    Lukas
