SCCM Migration from Child Primary Site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are in the middle of an AD migration of a company we've purchased. They were previously owned by a larger company with a lot of sites.

We also need to migrate the packages and Task Sequences from their SCCM 2007 in their old domain to our SCCM 2012. The problem is that their SCCM is a Child Primary Site server. Is it possible to migrate from that server or does it have to be the top-level site server?

When we try to migrate from that server to ours we get an error:

"Configuration Manager failed to gather data from

Configuration Manager was unable to connect to the RPC server.
Ensure the source site is on-line and accessible and that firewall
exceptions are configured and include the following ports: 445
(TCP), 135 (TCP). If this error occurs while gathering data from
the top-level site server for a new source hierarchy, ensure the
correct NetBIOS name or FQDN is specified."

These ports should be opened and the migration user should also have all the right permissions.

It will be hard to get access to the top-level server as it is a very big company with a large hierarchy that they probably won't give us access to.

    Best Regards
