Combining DFS-R, DFS-N and BranchCache RRS feed

  • Hello all,

    I'm currently designing and building a new fileserver solution. I have a main site which hosts 2 fileservers with DFS-N and DFS-R enabled.

    The next step is to extend the DFS namespace to our branch offices but I don't want to use DFS-R to replicate all data. I'm looking at enabling branchcache on servers in the branch offices.

    Will branchcache be able to cache files that are opened using the DFS namespace (\\domain.local\dfs\data) or does this only work if a share is opened using its UNC path (\\fileserver\data)?

  • Hi,

    There is no specific article regarding using Branch Cache on DFS shares, but according to customers' feedback, it will work by enable Branch Cache on DFS.
