KB4338815 - Exchange Server Issue on Server 2012R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi together,

the issue with KB4338815 is known and KB4338831 fix the issue.

    Reason of this post is:
We deploing updates via SCCM. Now, there are both updates available to install in the Softwarecenter.
What will happen if the fix will installed first and the corrupt patch thereafter? Will this reinstall the issue?

KB4338815 is not marked as expired or superseeded in System Center and/ or WSUS.

Are there experiences? It's hard to test in productive systems and there are no lab-environments with Exchange.

    Thanks in advanced,
    Christoph

  • Hi,

Not sure if the wrong patch order will produce the known issue.

You may monitor the Exchange server now, once the following issues occur, install the associated KB to fix them.

    1. Addressed issue in which some devices may experience stop error 0xD1 when you run network monitoring workloads.
    2. Addresses an issue that may cause the restart of the SQL Server service to fail with the error, “Tcp port is already in use”.
    3. Addresses an issue that occurs when an administrator tries to stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC). The W3SVC remains in a "stopping" state, but cannot fully stop or it cannot be restarted.

For more details about the known issue and its fix, see: Issue with July Updates for Windows on an Exchange Server.
