    In preparation for our trasition at the end of June we have made the CNAME autodiscover changes and the Lync SRV DNS changes per the checklist in the transition guide. We did this yesterday and we are having issues with Outlook. Most users have been prompted to put their password in while in Outlook out of the blue. Also many are getting a prompt to allow a redirection to a autodiscover site pertainign to outlook.com. It seems if the user does allow this and enter thier current password its resolved. Is this normal? Is there any way to avoid this. It is not everyone, but most everyone.

    Yes, this is expected behavior and is due to the AutoDiscover records.  This is why I recommend customers perform the AutoDiscover record implementation as close to transition as possible to limit the amount end-users are affected by it.

    Basically, even though Outlook is set to preferLocalXML, it still makes a DNS lookup.  After doing so, it notices the difference and prompts the user to confirm they still want to go with the URL indicated in the XML file.
