trouble with my boot images on a specific model ,HP 6560b RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
having some trouble with my boot images(sccm2012) on a specific model ,HP 6560b. When we boot the computer on PXE it just reboots before the task sequence start.
All other models work just fine ,so i suspect that this is a driver issue of some sort.

I've checked that the network card is detected in PE and it gets an IP. Also checked that the local disks are visible. So network and storage drivers should be OK.

Checked the smsts.log ,but it's only 50 lines of log. Only Error is this:

    Failed to download pxe variable file. Code(0x00000001) TSPxe 06.11.12 12:53:06 316 (0x013C)
    PxeGetPxeData failed with 0x80004005 TSPxe 06.11.12 12:53:06 316 (0x013C)HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(dwError), HRESULT=80004005 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\tasksequence\tsmbootstrap\tsmbootstraputil.cpp,1370)

(Edit: The to impotent log lines did'nt make it over to this post.. )
tried googeling it ,but no luck!

  • This kind of issue have been related to the switch ports not being operational fast enough.

Try plugging it into a different switch, or enable portfast on the port where the client is connected.

  • 80004005 is a generic failure code that means keep looking and is otherwise generally meaningless. The entire log file is required to do any troubleshooting.

  • This kind of issue have been related to the switch ports not being operational fast enough.

Try plugging it into a different switch, or enable portfast on the port where the client is connected.

  • hello thomas,

have you tried with a new boot image dedicated? the new boot image to only inject drivers "lan" and "mass storage", if necessary, the computer model HP 6560b.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh397288.aspx#BKMK_CustomizingBootImages

Interestingly the response of, Per Isaksen.

you always use the same hp 6560b? have you thought about possible hardware problems with the network card?

    Vid.

    Solved it ,thanks!
Didn't think of this ,haven't seen the portfast/spanning tree problem since 2005.

It's hard to troubleshoot PXE/layer 2 problems when the machine is 32 kilometers(20 miles) away....
