Changing existing Sharepoint 2013 On Premise from http to https RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am using a host named site collection that I'd like to migrate to SSL.  Is it possible to follow these steps: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/fabdulwahab/2013/01/20/configure-ssl-for-sharepoint-2013 ?  I've read articles that say AAM won't work with Host Named Site Collections.  Can anyone point me to an article or give instructions on how to convert a host named site collection to SSL?  Do I have to extend the web site?  If I do, what are those steps?  This is for an intranet Sharepoint environment only.  Thanks.

    Other requirements:

I would like all traffic to go to https and not accessible via http.  Would I use an url rewrite for this?

I have 5 host named site collections under one web application currently.  I only need one of them to be SSL.  Will all be affected?

  • Thanks for the articles.  I did come across those during my research, however from reading them, I still do not understand the steps I would take to convert from http to https.  Has anyone had experience in doing this with a host named site collection and can give advice or steps?  Thanks.
