Deleting object from Metaverse RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had an object in FIM and in Metaverse. I deleted the object from FIM when the Object Deletion Rule was not configured. Now even after configuring the deletion rule, the object is still there in the Metaverse. How can I delete the object from the Metaverse?

  • Hi,

There is no way now to manually force its removal somehow directly from MC. For such cases you would need to create object temporarily somewhere (maybe new agent) just to make sure you have option to join MV object with something in Connector Space.

    I often do the following:

    1. Create flat file MA to import objects from CSV
    2. In CSV provide a list of objects I want to delete
    3. Set deletion rule that if something would be removed from CSV, remove it from MV
    4. Import CSV with those objects, join them with MV objects
    5. Delete entries in CSV
    6. Import/Sync from CSV MA -> objects in MV will be deleted

Such cleanup is useful for orphaned objects.

Of course it needs your check how to find those orphaned objects and what attribute can be used to join.

  • 1- How did you delete something in Metaverse?

2- Are you sure you deleted the object?  Seems to me you have done a disconnect.

3- How to delete it? Setup Object Deletion in MV, follow the steps.

    - So if you make it such that when an object is deleted in FIM, it should delete it in MV, do just that.
