MDT USB drivers not installed/working after deployment RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can't seem to get this fixed and had this issue for the last couple of months........!

    I create my WIN7 images on a Hyper-v machine
Do my customizations, sysprep it with the syspr task sequence.

Image capture works fine, deploy image and USB doesn't work...

I've looked trough the logs but for some reason (god knows why) the smsts.log is nowhere to be found.

The monitoring service in MDT shows the progress bar always stuck on step 52 of 88. And I have no clue where to troubleshoot this or how to see which step it hangs on.

Please help.. I am getting pretty hopeless haha..

  • Probably going to need to see the logs from the system.  If the system is in WinPE still, they'll be in X:\MININT.  If it's booted to the OS, then they're going to be in C:\Windows\Temp\DeploymentLogs.

  • How are you deploying the image? Are you creating an offline media under Advanced Configuration? Are you diskpart the USB before you place your files?

  • Additionally, because you injected a new disk into the system, it's possible that MDT put the log files on the USB flash drive. So check *ALL* drives for logs. If you are unsure, go into to disk part and get a list: (diskpart.exe --> list vol --> exit ).

All the logs from C:\Windows\Temp\DeploymentLogs. are shared with the lin

also, I use PXE to deploy since there is a little confusion about that.
    Not a USB Drive.

  • The dropbox link above: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6db... does not contain the bdd.log file from a deployment, only from an image *Capture*, do you have an example of an actual deployment?
Additionally, what version of MDT are you running? Older versions of MDT may require you to import the *full* OS Sources, rather than just the *.wim file.
