OCS 2007 R2 - Groups with more than 100 members RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am getting this error when trying to send a message to a group with 582
members. I understand that the default limit is 100 and that you supposedly
can change the limit in the Administrator console up to 1000 members,
    however, this is not working.

This KB article talks about applying an update to OCS, but is dated in 2007.
Is it still applicable to OCS 2007 R2?

I have modified the Maximum Group Size on the OCS R2 server to be 1000, but
have not yet recycled the services. (Have to do that after hours). Will
this resolve my issue, or will I have to apply this update/modify a registry
    setting somewhere?

    Additional information -

I found the Global Group Policies and added myself to one that 'should'
allow me to open a DG with up to 1000 members, at least the way I currently understand things. According to AD this policy change has replicated out to my location.

I have also updated my client to MS Office Communicator 2007 R2
    v 3.5.6907.37.

    Still no joy.

    Any thoughts?

  • Most likely you will not see that change take effect until after the OCS IM service has been restarted.

  • Did that last night and it did not make a difference.   I actually recycled all of the OCS services on both our servers as well as the App Pool for OCS.

  • I am looking at the same issue.
    Was there any resolution here?

  • Yes, the answer I got from MS PSS was that the documentation was incorrect and that OCS is not able to process sending to DG's over 100 members.  Their explanation was that the server overhead would not handle it.

MS will correct the documentation, though I have no clue on when that will happen.

I wish I had better news, but that is what I got form the horse's mouth.
