Default to 'All Programs'? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok, I've seen others ask this question, and perhaps Windows 7 will finally answer it.

When you open the start menu, there's a pin list and a recent programs list, and a link for all programs.
When you hover over all programs, it opens.

Is there any way to skip the recent programs and pin list and ALWAYS open directly to the all programs list?

I've tried setting displayed recent programs to 0 and unpinning anything there... and it leaves a blank list.
Even if its a reg hack, I'd like it to go straight to all programs.

  • No. Start menu behavior cannot be changed like that. Adding a C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder toolbar to the taskbar would be pretty close to that.

  • It's a good suggestion BTW for peeps wanting the classic start menu: A checkbox under Control Panel -> Taskbar and Start Menu -> [x] "Open 'All Programs' when Start Menu is Opened" or smth like that :)
