Network related sql server 2008 r2 connection error RRS feed

  • Question

I am working on  project server 2010 in my organization. I have installed sql server 2008 R2. when i shutdown my system and start using the system again, i am unable to connect to the sql server with required credentials. I get the below error . Even i will not be able to access the PWA site. I get HTTP 503 service unavailable error.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)

So i started the services related to sql server. then it starts working . But when the system is shut down for the next time, again the services get stopped and same error is appeared. how many times can i be restarting the services. Is there any solution to solve the problem?

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi Akhila--

You may need to verify the start up type of the SQl services (SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER2008R))

Go to services using Run> Services.msc> Select the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER2008R) service & double click & validate the start up type. It should be Automatic (not manual).

    Does that help?
