Steady State Updates Script and Privilege Elevation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using a script to run updates for a program on a computer locked down under WSS.  However, the update program that is launched by the script requires privilege elevation to execute.  Will WSS accept the elevation automatically?

  • Hi yavoh, based on my experience, most programs require administrator privilege to install updates. To secure your computer, you can schedule a time to install updates from an administrator account. If the program support update script/bat (you may need to consult the manufacturer to confirm this), you can also create a Schedule Task to update with an administrator account.

If you have Windows Disk Protection (WDP) enabled, you can also add the script/bat file to Schedule Software Updates to update automatically.

    Hope this helps!
