  • Hi!

I bought a new Lenovo PC and I did a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro x64. After update were done I install Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 x64 . When tried to turn on Outlook the windows reports an error "The operation has failed". I tried install fix, repair, change compatibility and etc. I also tried to reinstall Windows and it still shows the same error.

  • Hi AntunVR,

    >> When tried to turn on Outlook the windows reports an error "The operation has failed".

Has Outlook ever worked before or do you mean the issue occurred when starting Outlook for the very first time?

If it never worked before, it could be that you have not configured your mail account correctly. Please try to recreate your mail profile via the Mail applet in Control Panel. When recreating the mail profile, make sure you’re using the correct server settings provided by your ISP or corporate email administrator.

For detailed instructions about how to create outlook profile, hopefully the article below can be helpful:

    Best regards,
    Yuki Sun

  • Yes I mean that problem occurred when I start the Outlook for the very first time. I solved the problem by reinstalling the Windows and i did not allow update to download the creator update (1703). And for your information i also had the same problem with office 2013 and office 365 which i downloaded through office portal.

  • Hi AntunVR,

Thanks for sharing the resolutions here.

As per the Office 2013 and Office 365 you mentioned above, are they all 64-bit?

    Best regards,
    Yuki Sun
