Exchange webservice API1.0 > Extended properties on attachment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've just installed the Exchange webservice API 1.0, and I have to say that it is a great improvement as to the previous webservice.
It codes a lot better and the code is readable :-D

One question though: I'm still not able to set a contact picture... I'm trying to set extended properties on the contact's attachment, but the method isn't there (yet)

Is this going o be added in the new version of Exchange (2010)
I know the exchange webservice doesn't support this, although the MAPI properties exist and it is possible to do with CDO (if I'm not mistaken), but since those options are being faded out, it would be great if we where able to do this through the webservices...

Thanks and keep up the good work :)

  • Hi Wim,

EWS in Exchange 2007 SP1 doesn't support setting extended properties on attachments. It still won't in Exchange 2010, but we are adding explicit support for adding contact pictures as well as marking attachments as hidden.

  • David,

I've found documentation on how to add contact pictures in Exchage 2007 SP1 using CDO and MAPI (http://gsexdev.blogspot.com/2005/09/add-picture-to-contact-in-outlook-2003.html).

The same script does not add a contact photo in Exchange 2010 (Beta).  What MAPI values need to be set to add a contact photo in Exchange 2010 (Beta)?

  • Is there an alternative for Exchange 2007 or just switch back to webdav?

    Thanks
