How to enable, disabled DVD player and NIC car RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a laptop running XP Professional. It seems the DVD player and the NIC card have been disablede at the system level.  When I open the Windows explorer the DVD player doesn't show up on the list of drives.  In Device Manager I see my 1394 Net Adapter listed under Network Adapters and its enabled, but the LAN Connection doesn't show up on the task bar, and when I plug in my Lan/DSL connection in, the light on The NIC card doesn't light up, only the Wireless Network Connection shows up on the taskbar. Does anyone know how to resolve these issues? Are there commands during the boot process that enable/disable the drivers from loading?
