Email Stuck in Drafts Folder

    Question

  • Upgraded Exchange 2013 server from RTM to SP1. Had a failure due to a corrupted system mailbox during install, but was able to complete the install. Now when I try to send email from OWA, it sits in the drafts folder. I have tried numerous fixes online, including DNS, rebuilding receive connectors, and group policy permissions. You cannot send internally or externally, but automatic replies are getting out of the server. Any help would be appreciated! All tests come back clean, and no errors related to this in the event log. The only exchange error is:

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process jobs in a mailbox database.
    Database: EXC1
Error: Couldn't find system mailbox 'ab4ebb03-f251-4a5e-93f1-03129dd8dd6e' in Active Directory.

  • Mail staying in Drafts after being sent isn't being picked up by Transport.  The first thing to do is to make sure all services are running.

  • Hi,

I have checked in my environment, there is no 'ab4ebb03-f251-4a5e-93f1-03129dd8dd6e' system mailbox. Here is the system mailbox in my environment for your reference. Please check if you have all these system mailboxes.

Agree with Ed's suggestion, please use the Test-ServiceHealth cmdlet to check if the services Exchange needed are started. If no, please start them and check the result. If yes, please restart the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service and the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service and check the result.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,
