How to tell when Indexing operation is Finished RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We're testing out FS4SP crawling/indexing and have decided to try the 2-phase 'Crawl/Feed-then-Index' approach.  Our crawl of 2.8 million items (with indexing suspended) finished and I have run the 'indexeradmin -a resumeindexing' command to create the searchable index from the FIXML.  Is there an easy way to tell when the searchable index is ready for the aforementioned 2.8 million crawled/fed items?  Any type of event log entry?  I can keep checking the Index server and use 'indexerinfo status' command, but I'd like to know how long it takes for the Indexer to create the index from the fed content.

    Many thanks

    Tom

  • Hi Tom,

FAST indexing Happens in different phases and each phase completion and creation of a valid index is based on the performance of the indexer and doc processors.

Also the time varies depends on the read/Write response from the underlying storage that holds the index data.
