About return value on custom extensibility stage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I was doing some testing with a custom extensibility stage done in C#. If everything is fine, I return a 0, and Sharepoint crawler detects it as a success. If I have an error, I write some info to the output and return a !=0 value.

My problem starts when I get an error in the processing. I go to the Sharepoint logs, and I can't find it as an error. I double checked it and found that it's detected as a warning. It should be fine for me, but Sharepoint still crawls and index the file, just ignoring all the changes made in this stage.

Is there any way to return something so Sharepoint detects it as an error and the processing doesn't continue for that file?

Thanks in advance and best regards, Sergio.

  • Hi Sergio,

I think that writing to console and/or throwing exceptions should do the trick.

You can also write to Event Logs (Every Viewer Logs).
